The Crisis strengthens HR IT-systems

By: Dirk Linn

The Personnel trade fair in Munich further confirms the strong trend to IT for personnel specialists

March 2009 marked the first “Personnel” trade fair. Exhibitors and the technical public filed the halls of the Munich MOC. Numerous interested companies came to the Persis stand looking to find software to support their HR processes within the year.

Here it was clear that eRecruiting was a top theme, yet it was being discussed under a different name. To date, specialists have been forced to conduct “talent searches” through heaps of applications. This meant rejections had to be managed in a second step, a burden exacerbated by the fact that in a time of crisis the number of rejections is naturally great. At the same time however one would like to construct a talent pool, yet nevertheless does not have the work hours available for this. The new resume-integrator in Persis provides many parties with the solution; it presents a meaningful and consistent first step. The applicant simply uploads his resume as a Word or PDF file in the online recording form. Persis then “reads” the data directly into the system, including processional experience, skills, languages, an so on. This makes it easy to classify an applicant completely and direct him/her into the right pool. The user-friendly correspondence management and resubmission system then steps in to give you the free space necessary for your daily work.

The other top theme in Munich was the trend to connect employees with one another with a constant eye to goal-directed development. In so doing, the company`s strategic approach always plays a larger role and an employee-centered approach takes a back seat. It is important what an employee can do; but it is even more important what he should be able to do to help the company achieve its economic goals. For us this means skills management, which in the simplest of cases presents a collection of employees’ skills with their (singular) assessment, such that one is able to direct activities on the basis of the company`s competencies, which in turn must be malleable to keep pace with time. This leads to real personnel development. Keeping data up-to-date and enabling personally-tailored planning for each employee (e.g. with respect to qualification or succession)... that is the key.

The 2009 release of Persis received great accolades and this pleased us greatly. The manufacturer in Heiderheim, Germany, continues to develop innovations hereto and we will present new modules and numerous improvements to meet out customer's needs. Keep an eye out for us at the trade fair “Future Personnel” in Cologne.

If you would like to know what we can do for you, give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you.
